background //

I’m Matthew Clements and in a previous century I was a freelance arts reviewer for the Loughborough Echo. Back then the deal was:

Watch. Ask questions. Listen. Scribble notes. Type up (on paper… paper!) Hand in. Wait for publication. Buy the newspaper. Explain to family that it was the sub-editor who chose the headline puns. Preserve clippings.

As a primary school teacher or TA, I continue to model writing for children. My work in schools over the past decade or so already has its own space over at MrClementsCreative, but because I’m keen to keep the reporting and podcasting momentum I built up last year going, I’ll be gathering examples here on TheStoryFramer. If nothing else, it will make me challenge myself to get out and document the positive things happening in Rugby.

As I see it, TheStoryFramer puts some infrastructure, some white space, around someone else’s creativity, something that’s already beautiful, and helps put it on display.

This will also be the place where I share my efforts at poetry and prose.
